WAEC: Exam Malpractice To Pay N200,000 Fine

A bill seeking to provide stiffer penalties against examination malpractice passed second reading at the House of Representatives on Thursday.

It sought to amend the existing West African Examination Council Act, 2004, to provide penalties of up to N200,000 against offenders.

Leading the debate on the bill, the House Majority Leader, Mulikat Akande-Adeola, said there was the need to amend Sections 20/21 of the Principal Act to incorporate the new fine.

From the current fine of N2,000, the amendment sought to increase it to N200,000.

Akande-Adeola added, “Furthermore, because of the high incidence of examination malpractice, the Council thought it fit to amend the whole of Section 19 of the Principal Act, providing the offences constituting such malpractice to include illegal possession of examination papers.

There was pandemonium in the Akinremi Estate, Adigbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday after some youths discovered a baby factory around Vulcaniser Bus Stop.

The incident comes barely two weeks after eight women were rescued from a baby factory in the Akute area of the state.

Eyewitnesses told PUNCH Metro that the youths, who thought the building was a ritual killers’ den broke into the compound.

In a fit of rage, the youths were said to have set two vehicles ablaze as well as the one-storey building.

A traffic official, who witnessed the incident, said the youths were able to recover a blood-filled basin, coffin, mortar, calabash, effigy, assorted charms, clothes, live scorpion and other suspected fetish items.

Soldiers Invade Fulani Village In Nasarawa, Kill Atleast 30 Residents

At least 30 people believed to be Fulanis have been killed by a team of soldiers in Keana LGA of Nasarawa State, residents tell Premium Times. See full report below...

The soldiers stormed the Fulani settlements about a kilometre away from Keana Town in the early hours of today Thursday March 3rd in a convoy, and allegedly shot at every Fulani in sight.

Most of the deceased were said to be over 70 years old who were not fast enough to flee the rampage. A witness, Ibrahim Jalo, said that about 24 corpses were evacuated from the Fulani settlements on the road to Giza Town.

Satellite Data Shows Hijacked Malaysian Plane Was Last Seen Flying Towards Pakistan

Investigators say the missing Malaysia Airlines jet was hijacked, steered off-course and could have reached Pakistan. A Malaysian government official said people with significant flying experience could have turned off the flight's communication devices. 

The representative said that hijacking theory was now 'conclusive', and, as a result, police have raided the luxury homes of both the captain (right) and the co-pilot (left)

The search operation has now been focused on two 'corridors', one which extends from  north west from Thailand to the Kazakstan-Turkmenistan border and the other which opens out into the southern Indian Ocean. Continue...

Dad Accused Of Killing His Daughter And Her Girlfriend After Confirming They Were Gay

A devout Muslim man is being accused of killing his lesbian daughter and her girlfriend at his home. The bodies of Britney Cosby (pictured right in the pic) and Crystal Jackson (pictured left), both 24, were found behind a Dumpster in Texas on March 7th, but police believe they were killed somewhere else and later dumped there.

James Larry Cosby has been arrested and charged with two counts of evidence-tampering and police are planning to upgrade his charges to capital murder once they finish their investigation as all fingers point to him as the murderer because evidence has so far shown that the ladies were killed in his home. Minister Of Education Can’t Speak Good English- Gov. Amaechi

Governor Rotimi Amaechi has escalated his war of words with the Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, saying that Wike is not fit to be an Education minister, talkless of his successor as Governor of the State.

Amaechi spoke yesterday at a thanksgiving service for Senator Magnus Abe, at Bera, in Gokhana Local Government Area.

“Wike is not fit to be the minister of education. How do you make a man who cannot speak English the minister of education? How can Wike convince professors in the university on any issue when he can’t speak proper English?

“My Commissioner for Information, (Mrs Ibim Semenitari), speaks better English than Wike. And I am sure most of you know that she speaks English better than Wike,” he said.

Patience Jonathan Secretly Flown To Germany Over An Ailment

Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan, may have embarked on another medical trip to Germany. A report by an online news portal, Sahara Reporters, on Saturday quoted two presidential sources as saying the First Lady was flown out of the country discreetly.

One source, the medium claimed, disclosed that Mrs. Jonathan had kept a low profile several weeks before her movement to a German hospital.

“She has not been in good health for a while now,” a source close to the Jonathan family reportedly said.

After a medical trip in 2013, which her spokesman denied, Patience later returned to the country to admit that she went to a German hospital for treatment. The agency also quoted another source as saying, “Nigerians are paying for her treatment and deserve the courtesy of being informed about her movement.”

I try not to say two people are dating if they are not because it's kinda annoying if you're being linked with someone you barely know but there's something definitely going on between singer Seun Oni aka Saeon and actor/BBA winner Uti Nwachukwu. They have been quietly seeing each other for a few months now...they definitely don't want people knowing about it but...we have a job to do. Lol.
