Minister Of Education Can’t Speak Good English- Gov. Amaechi

Governor Rotimi Amaechi has escalated his war of words with the Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, saying that Wike is not fit to be an Education minister, talkless of his successor as Governor of the State.

Amaechi spoke yesterday at a thanksgiving service for Senator Magnus Abe, at Bera, in Gokhana Local Government Area.

“Wike is not fit to be the minister of education. How do you make a man who cannot speak English the minister of education? How can Wike convince professors in the university on any issue when he can’t speak proper English?

“My Commissioner for Information, (Mrs Ibim Semenitari), speaks better English than Wike. And I am sure most of you know that she speaks English better than Wike,” he said.

Patience Jonathan Secretly Flown To Germany Over An Ailment

Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan, may have embarked on another medical trip to Germany. A report by an online news portal, Sahara Reporters, on Saturday quoted two presidential sources as saying the First Lady was flown out of the country discreetly.

One source, the medium claimed, disclosed that Mrs. Jonathan had kept a low profile several weeks before her movement to a German hospital.

“She has not been in good health for a while now,” a source close to the Jonathan family reportedly said.

After a medical trip in 2013, which her spokesman denied, Patience later returned to the country to admit that she went to a German hospital for treatment. The agency also quoted another source as saying, “Nigerians are paying for her treatment and deserve the courtesy of being informed about her movement.”

I try not to say two people are dating if they are not because it's kinda annoying if you're being linked with someone you barely know but there's something definitely going on between singer Seun Oni aka Saeon and actor/BBA winner Uti Nwachukwu. WAEC Introduced 34 More Subjects, Scholars Question WAEC

Academic dons have questioned the introduction of 39 new subjects by the West African Examinations Council in its curriculum.

In an interview with our correspondent on Friday, the Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, queried why so many subjects were introduced at once by the examination body.

He said, “I believe the introduction of vocational studies, business studies, and technical studies into the curriculum is a good idea; but it is not just the introduction of those courses that is the issue; it is whether we have competent teachers to teach these subjects, the requisite equipments. Do we also have the appropriate learning environment for the students?

“The idea looks good on paper, but the fact that an idea is noble and beneficial does not mean it will become a success; implementation is the critical thing. What is required is the adequate training of more teachers to handle these subjects, as well as the provision of equipment needed to teach those subjects.”

Olukoju also urged the country to change its attitude towards the learning of vocational, technical and business subjects.

Bank Customers ’ll Now Transact Business With Fingerprints – Sanusi

The Central Bank of Nigeria on Friday inaugurated the biometric registration of bank customers and declared that after 18 months of the exercise, bank customers would not be able to do any transaction without their fingerprints.

The Governor, CBN, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, who launched the biometric registration exercise at the CBN head office in Lagos on behalf of the Bankers’ Committee, said the development represented a milestone in the nation’s financial system and economy in general.

He said the new biometric registration which will lead to the issuing of Bank Verification Number, a unique identity for every bank customer, would help to mitigate fraud, money laundering and other vices in the country.

“We have launched the Bank Verification Number today, the timetable suggests that within 18 months, every customer would have been registered. This is a day that we would remember for many reasons, not for where we are but where we are likely to get from here. Nobody can steal this identity except he or she steals my fingers. After the deadline, if you don’t register, you cannot do any transaction with the bank,” Sanusi said.

There was panic aboard Aero Contractors Flight Aj2002 from Lagos to Douala today Friday February 14th when passengers, including 2Face Idibia discovered that one of the doors was open 30 minutes after take-off.

An angry passenger who does not want his name mentioned told The Nation that passengers had finished taking  their refreshment onboard the small aircraft when a signal came that a door was not locked and they should return to Lagos.

“Remember that small plane you guys used that day to Douala, Aero? Hmm! We left Lagos with it and like 30 minutes later on air, after all the refreshments. I had finished eating and then announcement came in that there’s a signal that the door is open somewhere. That it is required we return to Lagos. Returning to Lagos was hell. Plane flew so low and that’s how we managed back.

Court Declare Dimeji Bankole Innocent On The N9billion Contract Scam Charge

Former Speaker of the House of Reps, Dimeji Bankole, accused by the EFCC of masterminding a N9bn contract fraud was acquitted by a Federal High Court in Abuja today Friday Feb. 14th. Wow!

An Abuja Federal High Court on Friday discharged and acquitted Dimeji Bankole, after finding that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was not able to prove a 16-count criminal charge, bordering on a N9billion contract scam, filed against him.

Justice Evoh Chukwu, in a ruling on a no-case-submission filed by Bankole after the prosecution had called its witnesses against him in the trial, held that there was no evidence linking the former Speaker to the alleged offenses.

Well, after much speculation, Stephen has finally reacted to the reports. He admitted exchanging flirtatious text messages with a Nigerian woman but says he didn't cheat. He didn't say why they broke up but confirmed they split in December 2013.

He defended Dillish by saying people who claimed she was gold digger, who became rich & dumped him, were wrong about her.

Hajiya Asiya Mohammed Bello, wife of the sacked PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, dumped the party which disgraced her husband and registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Gabasawa Ward in Kaduna North Local Government area of Kaduna State.

Tukur's wife registration card number is 0623374.

"It is true that our registration officer registered Tukur’s wife and issued her a registration card. This is one of the developments of democracy in Nigeria where you see an immediate past PDP chairman’s wife registering for APC. 

"As far as I am concerned, they might be united as husband and wife but may have different opinions as the far as the political scenario is concerned, it is to show you that it is a falling period for the PDP."

Bonsue Fuji exponent, Adewale Ayuba, speaks on his plans for the music genre and the challenges ahead in this interview with JAYNE AUGOYE

One thing that cannot be taken away from Adewale Ayuba is his Afrocentric yet modernist approach to music. The legendary musician, who has about 23 albums to his credit, believes firmly in the uniqueness of indigenous African music genres, such as Afrobeat, Highlife, Fuji and Juju.

Although he is one of the few artistes with a cross-over appeal, Ayuba says that one of the high points of his career is his duet with Jazzman Olofin in 2006. He was featured in the production of the latter’s hit song, Raise the Roof.

“I was the first fuji artiste to sing with a Nigerian hip hop artiste. Before then, no one believed that such collaboration was possible. When you realise that younger artistes are taking the shine off the older musicians, you must look for ways to collaborate with them in order to remain relevant,” he says with smiling.

Eight years after, Ayuba still believes that any musician of his generation who wants to remain relevant must learn to re-invent himself by the day. Although there is so much competition among music artistes, the singer is worried about certain developments in the industry.

Woman Whose Children Died In Iyabo Obasanjo's Car Writes Her An Open Letter

Dr Bisola Clark, wife of Chief E. K Clarke whose two children, Adeife(10) and AKinola (14) were killed in Iyabo Obasanjo's convoy on the 20th of April 2003 has sent an open letter addressed to the Obasanjos expressing her distaste in the manner they handled the death of her children.

Mrs Clarke, who wasn't married to the elder-statesman when the incident happened, said she saw the need to speak up after Iyabo said in her open letter to her dad that the death of the children was what spurred her to pursue political appointments. 

In the open letter, Mrs Clarke said none of the Obasanjo's have been there for her emotionally since the sad day she lost her two children in assassination attempt on Iyabo Obasanjo's life.

Story Of a Man Turned Woman, Whose Fake Plastic Surgeon Filled Her Face With 'Cement'

Rajee Narinesingh, 46, was born a man. He decided he wanted a different life and identity and turned himself to a woman. He didn't like what he looked like as a woman and decided to have plastic surgery done. She didn't have enough money to go to 'dem Beverly Hills 90210 doctors and decided to do what she could afford. The black market plastic surgeon she paid to do the surgery injected 'cement' like filler into her cheeks, lips, breasts and buttocks leaving her face looking deformed. Lol. God forgive me for laughing but it's too funny.

The fake doctor who carried out the operation, Oneal Ron Morris, 32, was jailed for a year in January 2014, nine years after she carried out the surgery, after admitting one count of practicing healthcare without a licence.

Jonathan Sacks Stella Oduah, Orubebe, Oluboade and Yerima As Ministers

President Jonathan on Wednesday February 12th sacked the embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah. He also sacked Godsday Orubebe (pictured right), Minister of Niger Delta; Caleb Olubolade, the minister of Police Affairs, and Yerima Ngama, Minister of State, Finance.

Heard Ms Oduah will now focus on her Neighbour to Neighbour political campaign organization which she founded a few years ago. Also heard the other ministers were dropped for political reasons. All three of them are planning to run for governorship positions in their various states. Orubebe is running in Delta, Yerima in Yobe and Olubolade in Ekiti State, all under PDP.

In fact, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, in a scathing remark recently, said the ‘body language’ of the President showed that he was not interested in fighting the scourge of corruption. 11 People Arrested In An Hotel At Onitsha Where Human Meat Are Sold To Visitors

According to reports, Onitsha police arrested 11 people after they discovered 2 fresh human heads in a hotel (name withheld) very close to the popular Ose-Okwodu market in Anambra state. 2 AK47 rifles & other weapons were also discovered in the hotel. The arrest followed tip-offs from area residents on Thursday morning. The hotel owner, 6 women and 4 men were arrested.

After police got access to the hotel, they made a startling discovery of two human heads wrapped in a cellophane bag, two AK47 rifles, two army caps, 40 rounds of live ammunition and so many cell phones.

"Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel. So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery in the early hours of yesterday," said a vegetable seller in the area

A Pastor who was among the people who tipped off the police on Thursday said: "I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told that a lump of meat was being sold at N700, I was surprised. So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at such expensive price."

Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso Runs a Cult – Shekarau Says

Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso yesterday came under attack for the second day in succession from within the Presidential Villa in Abuja. His predecessor Ibrahim Shekarau, who was on a visit to the Vice President, accused the governor of running a cult group in Kano.

On Wednesday, Kwankwaso was pilloried by Information Minister Labaran Maku over his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) late last year. Maku described him as an undemocratic desperado who hijacked the Kano APC from its founders.

Shekarau recently left APC to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) because the national headquarters handed over state party structures to the governor, who is a long-standing political rival.
