MANCHESTER UNITED have completed a deal for Uruguayan whizkid Guillermo Varela.
The youngster, 19, has joined the Premier League champions for an initial £1million rising to £2.5m from Penarol.
Varela, who will represent his country at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey later this month, has penned a five-year deal.
He becomes new boss David Moyes’ first signing since succeeding Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
Varela said: “I’m very pleased to be a part of this club, one of the best teams in the world.
“As everyone in the world knows, this is a huge club that has won everything and I really hope that continues.”
He added: “I’m very lucky there are quite a few Spanish-speakers here.
“It will certainly help me settle in.”
