The History Channel made headlines yesterday Mar. 17 with their mini-series “The Bible”, for casting an actor that looks a little familiar to Barack Obama .
It was conservative pundit Glenn Beck who pointed out actor Mehdi Ouzaani’s resemblance to President Barack Obama . Beck tweeted about it, referring to President Obama as “That Guy” out of his dislike for the President.
The Bible, produced by Mark Burnett , is a series that retells Bible stores from the last book of the New Testament, Genesis through Revelations. Despite the backlash, the miniseries is a hit with American audiences. It has reportedly attracted 13.1 million views for a recent episode.
But HISTORY Channel has released a statement regarding the resemblance of President Barack Obama and the actor who portrays the devil in their mini-series, The Bible:
HISTORY channel has the highest respect forPresident Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. HISTORY’s ‘The Bible’ is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”
