“For the first time in the history of this country, corruption has
graduated from the stealing of millions, billions and today into
trillions.
“The government of President Goodluck Jonathan is yet to prosecute one
corrupt official; not one politically exposed person has been jailed
under Jonathan’s administration.”
Former member of the House of Representatives and executive secretary of
Anti-Corruption Network, Hon Dino Melaye, has described the government
of President Goodluck Jonathan as the most corrupt in the history of the
country.
Speaking with Leadership in Abuja, Hon Dino said under the leadership of President Jonathan, corruption has become a national anthem, warning that the country is doomed if the trend is not halted.
He said corruption is thriving because there is total lack of political will to fight the monster by the presidency. Melaye said the situation would continue as long as the power to appoint EFCC and ICPC heads reside with the president and called for constitutional amendment that will take the power to appoint the chairman of the important anti-graft agencies as well was as that of INEC to the National Judicial Council (NJC).
