Behind the scenes of the music industry can get messy, but the silver lining is the music that can come of it. Timbaland, whose beat-prints are all over Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail, recently
revealed some of the strain their longtime friendship has endured. "Let
me tell you something about friends, you fall out and you make back
up," he said in an interview with Revolt TV.
Though he didn't detail the drama, which went down after Mr. Carter's Blueprint 3 album, Timbo did say that it was big enough to make him suspend communication, even during a major milestone in Jay's life. "I missed his 40th [birthday]," Timbaland admitted. "He didn't miss mine, he sent me a gift. But I missed his and it was over petty stuff, it was more personal stuff and disagreements. It was not industry related… and I was wrong."
Cut to Jay's account, however, and it seems the two still disagree. "A couple songs was gettin' leaked that was his songs. It just ruined the whole process," Hova said.
Whatever the case, Timbaland eventually flew to New York and mended fences with the Roc Nation label head. He also penned an apology track, aptly titled "Sorry," featuring Keri Hilson (her verse addresses her "beef" with Beyoncé).

In his own interview rounds, Jay admitted to another fallout, this time with Kanye West. According to Jay, the two "spent four days" arguing because Yeezy wanted the MCHG tracks "Oceans" and "Holy Grail" for their Watch the Throne collaboration. "I was explaining to him why it wasn't right and [that] I had an idea for making this album called Magna Carta Holy Grail," he said.
As it turns out, despite all that beef, Watch the Throne, Magna Carta Holy Grail, and 'Ye's follow-up solo project, Yeezus, all opened at No. 1.
